The continued deployment of digital media technologies and the explosive growth of Apps for tablet and smartphones are reshaping the lives and lifestyles of many Americans. Over the last decade, the rise of digital technologies has fundamentally altered how people work, play, communicate, socialize, and otherwise engage their communities.

While computer, tablet, new smart device ownership and internet use continue to grow, the “digital divide” that separates those Americans connected to the internet from those who are not persists and is not likely to disappear any time soon, according to a report released by the Consumer Federation of America and Consumers Union.

The study states “People of every age, income and race are concerned that technologic advances are widening the gap between rich and poor and fear that the information revolution will leave many behind.”
